Article by Rachel Reyes

The three similar methods that you can employ to access the creative section of your subconscious mind are meditation, hypnosis, and visualization. Lessons in relaxation magic make use of a combination of all three of these methods. Just about everyone can accomplish the relaxed focus of meditation, hypnosis, and visualization with the exception of people who have mental disabilities, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Every human being possesses their own unique solutions for resolving any situation or problem that occurs in their lives. In order to tap into and explore the various solutions, people need to first reach a relaxed state of mind and then employ visualizations and personal imagery to explore their situations or problems. Meditation and hypnosis are very powerful for problem solving because stressful areas of a person’s life can be reached indirectly through analogies, thus allowing a situation to be discussed in detail without resulting in any additional discomfort.

In recent times, research has been conducted which confirms the mind’s connection with creating and eradicating physical problems in people. Doctors can aid a person’s body, but a person’s mind can cause the bodily problem to reoccur. Therefore, the inclusion of the mind in health programs is the best technique for achieving total wellness.

The first step that you need to take in order to take charge of your life is to take charge of your mind, because if you’re not in control of your thoughts, who is? Through meditation and visualization you are able to communicate with your body, permitting you to do things like relax mental and muscle tension and monitor autonomous bodily systems. Over the years, there have been many well documented cases of meditation masters who are able to control their body temperatures and heart rates.

As a meditation, hypnosis, and visualization beginner, you will need to start by spending 10 to 15 minutes a day working out your mental muscles. Maintain a relaxed state of mind at all times, no matter where you are or what situation you are in, and reprogram your mind to eliminate self-defeating thoughts. Additionally, make sure that you are breathing evenly.

When and where you practice meditation is not super important; it’s really a matter of personal preference. But a word of advice, try to meditate at the same time every day so that it becomes a habit and a daily ritual, and try to meditate in a location that is free from external stimuli. The reason for this is because if you are surrounded by distractions, then it will be that much harder to slip into a state of total relaxation. The optimal meditation setting is one that is both quiet and comfortable. If you do find yourself being distracted while you meditate, simply acknowledge what is happening and get back to your state of relaxation as soon as you can.

In order to reach a state of total relaxation, you need nothing but yourself. However, if you would like to enhance the mood, then you can incorporate things like candles, incense, crystals, and soothing music. It also helps to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. When meditating, you can sit whatever way is the most comfortable for you. Many people prefer to sit cross-legged, but that is by no means necessary.

When you are ready to begin meditating, knowledge all of your body parts as they are relaxing, starting with your head and working your way down to your toes. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth and focus on making your breathing pattern as regular as possible. The length of time that you meditate for largely depends on you but try to make it last for at least 15 to 20 minutes. So that you don’t find yourself watching the clock, you can set a timer to go off after 20 minutes has passed.

As a final point, always remember that meditation is a state of heightened awareness, not one of unconsciousness.
